windows 10 - NationalSemiconductor driver update for IrDA Fast Infrared Port - Error 0x800705b4

After a clean install of windows 10 in my old Acer 6291, this appears in the windows update.

Cannot locate the drivers online, most websites look suspicious.

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!

Hi,

Thank you for posting to your query to Microsoft Community.

Here are solutions to some common problems with installing updates. You might be able to automatically fix some problems by running the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

I suggest you to follow the below methods and check if it helps you:

If you are using any third part anti-virus software or Windows defender, I suggest you to stop/turn off and check if you are able to perform the update.

You can turn on once the update is performed.

Method 1:

Disable the antivirus software in your computer if you have any and check.

Disclaimer: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2:

Use the Windows Update troubleshooter.

a) Type “Troubleshooting” in the search bar and press “Enter”.

b) In the “Troubleshooting” window, click on “View All” on the left pane.

c) Click on “Windows Update”.

d) Click on “Advanced” and then click on “Run as Administrator”.

e) Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

Please check the troubleshooting report in detail and check if it provides any useful information regarding the issue. You may also try the suggestion given by the troubleshooter and then try installing the update via Windows Update.

If the Windows Update troubleshooter didn't correct the problem, unplug all non-essential devices, such as webcams, game controllers, and printers, unless the update is for one of these devices, and then run Windows update again.

Hope the information helps, if you have any further queries, feel free to post. We are here to assist you.

Regards,

Guru Kiran
