Windows 10, File Explorer view takes time to arrange files

I'm using Windows 10 Home

Its a small annoying problem........I have set my view in file Explorer to "sort by Date, descending"    I did this by right clicking in file explorer and then clicking on sort by

When I open a file, the icons are not sorted by "Date, descending"

There is a delay sometimes 4 seconds where the PC rearranges the files to "Date, descending"

Sometimes I get a Green bar across the address field of the folder while the files are being arranged

I've go a good spec machine, intel i7, 8gb ram 2.30Hz........so don't think this little hang should happen

Its like the settings for the file explorer view are set to say default somewhere else on my PC, and that my settings are overriding the default

Surely the view should just stay as "sort by Date, descending" and I should not see the files being rearranged every time I open a new folder

Hope this makes sense

Good stuff thank you

By simply arranging the view from the view tab at the top of the page my files are staying in the order I want them, with no delay

Another question....How do I apply this view to all my folder

Many thanks

Hi...I spoke to soon

When I look at my folders by opening them up directly from Windows there is no delay or re arrangement of the files

However if I'm using Outlook or Internet explorer, and need to upload a file, when I navigate to the folder via Outlook the files are not in the order I have selected, and I get the delay as stated in my original question.....

No problem now if using file explorer direct, before your above suggestion there would be a delay

Cheers

So, to clarify, you're talking about the common dialogs, Save and Open, correct?

As I understand it, the initial view of those dialogs is often set by the Application that calls them.  If that's the case there may not be much you can do.

I don't have Outlook installed, so I can't iinvestigate its behavior.

I do have Internet Explorer, can you give me an example I can test to see the dialog you refer to.

Keith

Hello

To explain further....When i look at my files using files explorer directly for example  C:\Pauls Stuff\Pictures\Jewellery Pictures, when the folder opens my files are displayed in the order i want them, which is now sort by Date created, descending

If I want to upload a files from C:\Pauls Stuff\Pictures\Jewellery Pictures for my ebay listings for example, when i navigate to that folder via internet explorer, via a dialog in ebay that says click here to add picture to listing. Windows file explorer then opens and i navigate to C:\Pauls Stuff\Pictures\Jewellery Pictures......But initially the files are not in the view i want them to be  "Date created, descending"     They are in some other view and there is a delay, buffering, rearranging...Then say after 3 seconds the files are arranged to the view i want,  Date created, descending......

Hope this makes sense.....It not just in Internet explorer, this rearranging happens in Chrome as well and if i want to attach a file to send in Outlook.......And nothing to do with ebay as same happens from other websites as well........

Cheers

Paul

OK. Just to verify, you are using IE and not Edge, correct?

I don't have an ebay account, but when I go to upload a photo from Facebook, I get this dialog:

Image

Is that similar to what you're seeing?

Are you navigating through the Libraries?
