Windows 10 error error configuration sets are only supported when windows installation is started from windows pe

I was said to do a repair using the Windows 10 technical preview as I was facing issues with my start menu, Windows update and Defender updates. I am now getting the error configuration sets are only supported when windows installation is started from windows pe when I am running the iso file. I am tired of contacting Microsoft. What should i do?

Original Title: Windows 10

Hi Ishan,

To assist you better, I would like to ask some questions:

What is the make and model of your computer?

Do you get any error message?

Did you perform Startup Repair or Repair upgrade using the ISO?

I suggest you to boot the computer in Safe Mode and check if the issue persists. Safe mode starts Windows in a basic state, using a limited set of files and drivers. It can help you troubleshoot problems on your PC. For example, if the problem doesn't happen in safe mode, you'll know default settings and basic device drivers aren't causing the issue.

Start your PC in safe mode in Windows 10

https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

If the issue does not persist in Safe Mode, perform a Clean Boot. A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.

* Place the computer in a Clean Boot and check if the issue is occurring due to any third party programs.

Follow the link to view the steps to perform Clean Boot:

Disclaimer:  Start the computer in normal mode refer the section, "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" from the link above.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.

Thank you.

I am an IT network engineer and could not figure this out. Damn, a simple driver disk left in drive just jacked me up. Thanks
