Windows 10: DVD Packet writing broken after KB5025221 still not fixed in KB5026361

After installing KB5025221 DVD packet writing seems broken it will write at a very slow 100kb/s and you can hear the DVD drive constantly ramping down.

After uninstalling KB5025221 DVD packet writing is working normally writing at over 8MB/s

Does anyone know of a work around to get DVD packet writing working in KB5025221 ?

(Edit: Tested this on 2 computers they both behave the same way DVD+RW packet writing fine prior to update dead slow / unusable after update)

Recently installed KB5026361. Discovered the same issue so I went and uninstalled the update and everything is fine again.

Hello, how are you?

So that the update is not reinstalled and the problem happens again, I suggest you hide this problematic update.

The following file is available for download on the Site: https://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f...

When you click the download link, you will be asked to open or save wushowhide.diagcab.

Opening wushowhide.diagcab will start troubleshooting. Click next to proceed and follow the troubleshooting instructions to hide the problematic driver or update.

The problem is this is part of the microsoft security updates marked.

So it will be included in every roll up of the update every month.

additionally this will mean that security updates cannot be received on machines affected which is undesireable.

Using this tool, after hiding it, it will not be displayed in the list to install.

This is a way to avoid this issue until a possible fix for the issue is released in another future update.
