Windows 10 crashing/freezing

Hi, Windows 10 has been crashing quite an awful amount of times lately and I really need help. Whenever my computer is on games, doing simple tasks or even just at idle, my computer randomly crashes. I've never had problems until I installed a new ssd to my computer and had problems ever since, so I take the ssd out and my computer still crashes but it seems it had slowed my computer from crashing. I would really appreciate if someone could help me as I spent several hours finding out what is causing the problem and attempting to fix it.

SSD that I recently installed/removed:

I'd like to also mention that whenever my computer crashes, it rarely shows the blue screen, it either goes unresponsive and takes 10 - 30 seconds to get into a gray or black screen OR whenever I'm playing games it just black screens. After my computer crashes blue screen or not, I have to hard shut it down every time.

Hey Strykefire,

Seems you're maxing out of Memory usage. Windows uses a considerable amount of RAM in background data, but 32 GB is still a lot and also you have a SSD. Can you provide me with your Graphics Details? Maybe that is the problem for game crash. And please remove your Device ID(it is a sensitive data). By the time you can try PC boosting steps like:

1) Disk Defragmentation

2) Disk Cleanup

3) Preventing Unnecessary Background Apps to run by stopping them in Task Manager -> Startup

4) Regularly cleaning Temp folder. Open the Run window (Win+R key) and type %temp%. Then delete all the files inside the folder. Some files might not delete, so just skip them.

For further help, just reply here. Will be glad to help.

Regards,

Saksham Kumar

Dear Strykefire,

Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

Please check to see if your PC is producing any minidump files at C:\Windows\Minidump, I will check those to see if they provide any insight into a potential cause of the system crashes.

Kindly, attach the minidump files if any:https://support.microsoft.com/en-https://suppor...

Please let me know if you need further assistance and keep me updated.

Hi, Saksham my ssd currently has 7 gigabytes and my hard drive has 56 gigabytes. I will make sure that my hard drives don't reach 0. Although, I've had many times when my ssd has run out of storage and my computer has never crashed. That is until I installed that ssd and now I am having many crashes. I've had 20 gb and it still crashed. I've checked reliability issue and I see that "Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation" "Stopped Working".

Hi Diary, I'm sorry but I don't have any files from "C:\Windows\Minidump". Whenever my computer crashes I check to make sure it made a file but it never does. I check in startup and recovery and here are the settings:

Image

If I paste in "%SystemRoot%\MEMORY.DMP" at the top of file explorer, it says "Windows can't find 'C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP'. Check the spelling and try again." I have done sfc/scannow and chkdsk to make sure that isn't causing the problem.

Dear Strykefire,

Thanks for updating me.

If you have a restore point, it is best to do a system restore:

1-On a working PC, go to the Microsoft software download website:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

2-Download the Windows 10 media creation tool and then run it.

3-Select Create installation media for another PC.

4-Choose a language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit).

5-Follow the steps to create installation media, and then select Finish.

6-Connect the installation media you created to your nonfunctional PC, and then turn it on.

7-On the initial setup screen, enter your language and other preferences and then select Next. If you don't see the setup screen, your PC might not be set up to boot from a drive. Check your PC manufacturer's website for info on how to change your PC's boot order, and then try again.

8-Select Repair your computer.

9-On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot. From there, you can:
Restore from a system restore point by selecting Advanced options > System Restore. This will remove recently installed apps, drivers, and updates that might be causing your PC problems. Restoring from a restore point won’t affect your personal files.

If the steps above do not solve the issue, it is best to have a clean installation, that means you will lose all installed application:
Backup your personal data and follow the instruction below:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/for...

Please let me know if you need further assistance and keep me updated.

Okay, thanks! Just to make sure that it isn't anything hardware, I will restart in safe startup and leave it on and see if it would crash. Otherwise I will give a shot at that. Just to make sure would it be ok to do a system restore on the computer that im on (the computer that is having issues).

Looks like that didn't work. I guess I will have to reset. But by any chance, so I don't lose everything, could I take out the hdd?

Dear Strykefire,

I am sorry that the solutions above didn't work.

If you still have access to you your computer, it is best to backup all of your personal data on an external drive or in a cloud like OneDrive before the clean installation.

If you have no access to your computer and your Hard disk does not protected by BitLocker, you can backup all of your personal data before going through the clean installation, follow the instruction below:

1-If you have a basic Hardware knowledge Remove the Hard disk smoothly.
2-Put the Hard disk in to a Hard disk docking (as shown below).
3-Connect the Hard disk docking to another computer.
4-You should have access to your data. Backup all of them in to an External Hard disk or Cloud like OneDrive, or any other storage unit that you prefer.
5-Disconnect the Hard disk docking and put the hard disk back on your computer.
6-Do the clean installation.

Please let me know if you need further assistance and keep me updated.
