Windows 10 - Can't add Another User

Hi,

I successfully installed Windows 10 yesterday on my PC. I created the Administrator account with my hotmail account. Now, I want to add another account for my brother. But the " Family and Other Users " doesn't let me add more accounts. I tried both options -

to Add a Family Member and Add Someone else to this PC, but neither of them is working. It shows that a click has been made but doesn't respond to it. I tried restarting my computer and checked internet connection. All is working fine except for adding an account. Is there a way I can fix that. Please help.

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

As per the issue description you are willing to create new user profile but could not do that. For creating new user profile you should be logged in as an Administrator. Here are the steps which might help you to create new user profile.

  • Press Windows key + R

  • Type control userpasswords2 and click OK

  • Click on add under users tab

  • Click the option, "Sign-in without a Microsoft account

  • Click on Local account

  • Choose a name for the account

  • Add password if you want to

  • Apply and click OK.

For more information you may refer to the article mentioned below and see if it helps.

Hope the information provided is helpful. Do let us know if you have any more concern related to Windows. We will be more than happy to assist you.

Regards,

Ramesh Kumar.

I've had the same problem since upgrading to Windows 10 from 8.1 at the end of July. No matter what way I try to add users--adding a family member, adding a non-family user, adding users through the Command Prompt, adding local users through the method described here--I cannot add a new user to my machine beyond my own account. No matter what I do, I always get the "The user profile service service failed the sign-in" message when I try to sign in with a different account.

I have the same problem. I have tried to click on ADD SOMEONE ELSE TO PC I can't. It does not go through. Really frustrating. I have tried to restore the computer, and reset it. No luck. All in all, If I can't add users to windows it's useless.

Exists one way more to add a new user in Windows 10. Press Windows key + R. Choose System (computer) Management. Later You choose part Users and Group. And for the end, You can add a new user.

Basis on my experience, Your first login must be done from Safe Mode of Windows 10 (press F8 and later 4 during boot).

Later, after reboot, You can use normally a new account.

My problem is that although I can add users to my Windows 10 PC they can't log in.  I've tried through the Add Family Member option and the Add user option.  The new user name shows up on the login screen but when I type in the password it looks like it's processing the request and then says "logging out" and returns to the login screen.

I have performed the procedure Ramesh.Kumar outlined yet when I restart my computer I still only see my original administrator account. I never see the new one I created.

I see JAGLOT  has stated there might be a need for a restart into safe mode for my initial log-in on the new account, I will try this now.

edit:

even during safe mode reboot I could not see my new account.

I notice that even after using Ramesh.Kumar method of adding a new user with run command hack, I see the new user listed there but not in the user accounts section pictures below.

run command: control userpasswords2

new account is not visable through the normal gui options
