WIndows 10 - Cannot Drag Pinned File from Taskbar to Copy to Location

Hello.

On Windows 7, you could right click on the task bar to pull up the pinned menu, then left click+hold and drag (copy) that file to the desktop, new folder, etc.  You cannot do this in Windows 10.  Is this a feature you have to turn on?  If not, please add this feature back in as it made it easy to copy commonly used files.

Also, in Windows 10, if you right click on the pinned item, then left click on "Copy" and try to "Paste" is somewhere, that doesn't work.  In other words, you can't "Paste" the item you "Copied".  Would you please fix this is you're not going to re-implement the convenient drag and drop feature?

Thank you!

Dave

I often transfer taskbar pinned files to emails because I have them scattered in so many drives. What I am doing now is that I go to the file property's and just copy it's location in the attachment search window in outlook and from there I select the files. It's inefficient, we need that feature back please.

Come on Microsoft. What was your reasoning for getting rid of this feature? Bring it back! Also the ability to rearrange in the pinned list is gone also.

Microsoft are you working to bring it back, or you just choose to ignore?

This is so annoying. Just upgraded to Windows 10 and have since spent half my working day looking for the locations of the files I want to attach to emails when I already have them pinned

Why did you get rid of this?!

And your answer is just a cop out....

Dear Sujata,

why wouldn't you answer Dave's question instead? Very many people do have the same problem here. And as drag & drop from taskbar worked in Windows 7 & Windows 8.1 it's not quite clear why it doesn't in Windows 10. May be your programmers have great reasons to remove this function. In this case people would really like to know them. If not, we gladly receive information when this bug will be fixed (because if it disappeared by accident it's a bug). You might also delegate (are escalate) the issue to more powerful ressources.

Thank you and your team so much - if something helpful can be announced one of these days :-).

Best regards

Malte

You lucky bugger!!!  For the first 30 days after upgrading, there is an option to reverse the upgrade and go back to Windows 8 (or 7).  Do it now!!!!!!

Don't be naive (like the rest of us) and assume the removal of this feature was a simple mistake or bug that will be fixed shortly.  I've been waiting 5 months for this to be fixed.  If there was a simple way for me to down grade, I'd do it.

Windows 10 is the most soul destroying thing Microsoft has ever done.  Roll back now!!!!!

Note - the roll back requires a backup of the previous binaries that was created during the upgrade to Windows 10.  Windows 10 automatically deletes this backup after 30 days.  Once gone, there is no simple way to roll back.  So if you want to give Microsoft a little longer to fix the issues with Windows 10, find this backup, copy it and keep it safe.

If I could find a way to turn back time and ditch Windows 10, I would. Purely and simply because of this wretched drag and drop issue! This has made my job so much more pointlessly time consuming. We can put a monkey into space, and yet Microsoft can't implement a function which has worked well for years.

I've added this request to Windows 10 feedback...  This is tricky to find.

Do a search for Windows Feedback from the Start Menu

Go to:

Desktop Environment

Taskbar

Do a search for 'copy taskbar' to find my comments

Click on 'Upvote' to get some clicks on this request and raise the priority

Lol Windows Feedback app crashes when I try to launch it...

One more user here that would love to have this functionality back.  FYI people- don't get mad at the Microsoft "reps", they are actually just bots. (Google it)
