Windows 10 calculator keeps crashing

I tried to set the Win10 calculator app to date mode just to see how it worked.  When I set the date mode calculator crashed and terminated.  Now I can not start calculator.  When I try to start it I get a window then a repeat of the crashed and terminated behavior.  How do I reset the operating mode of calculator normal to stop the crashing?

Hi Randy,

For us to provide you the appropriate resolution, we would like to know if you are getting any error messages? If yes, kindly let us know the exact error message that you're getting.

Meanwhile, we suggest that you run the Windows App Troubleshooter. You can also check this link for your reference on how to use Windows Calculator app to date calculator.

We're looking forward to your response.

Regards.

There is no error message displayed.  The app simply terminates after opening a window.  The above troubleshooter, when run, reports "windows store cache may be damaged" "not fixed".

The calculator app simply wont run after setting the date calculation mode.  I tried to update from the windows store but it reports the app is already installed and does nothing.  Where is mode setting for calculator stored?  Since it remembers what the last calculation mode was set to.  It has to be stored somewhere outside of the .EXE file.

For further assistance, we suggest that you run WSResetPress. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Press Windows key + R to open run box.
  2. Type WSReset.exe and hit Enter.

By doing this, all store cache and corrupt settings are reset and your Windows store shall open normally.

Do update us with the results.

The above steps did not fix the problem.  I went to the add or remove programs settings in an effort to delete the calculator program in an effort to reinstall it.  Typed "calc" in the search this list.  Found the entry and tried to uninstall, grayed out wouldn't execute.  Went to advanced settings where a reset option was presented.  Reset the program and now it will run in standard mode.  I don't know what bug is causing calculator to crash right after it is starts in date mode.  What this has to do with windows store is beyond me.

This did not help.  Resetting appears to have happened (checkmark and all), but still it crashes on startup.  The calculator...  crashes..

the calculator...
