Windows 10 Calculator acting wired

The calculator is acting wired to input, the results are even more wired.

I have seen this behaviour now on two different machines. Any other calculator app from the store works fine.

See video to see how it acts as I have no better description for this.

Hi Gibs. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Guardian Moderator here to help you.

Try repairing the Calculator at Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Calculator > Advanced Options > Reset.

If that isn't enough then re-register the app from Option Two here: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3175-apps-re...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Hi gibsnicht

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

Which version of Windows 10 is currently installed? See how to verify:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wik...

This could actually be a bug.

I would also recommend you file a bug report; send me the short link so I can vote on it and bring it to the attention of the Windows engineers.

You could try using the following utility which does a good job of uninstalling bundled apps, then try again reinstalling it to see if it resolves the problem.

https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcen...

Extract it, launch it, scroll through the list, select Calculator then click Remove.

Restart then download and reinstall Calculator from the Store again:
Get Windows Calculator - Microsoft Store

Information in the above link is sourced from a trusted Microsoft MVP blog.

That's really strange. Do you have any other performance issues at all?

If so Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

If nothing else helps you can run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows in about an hour while saving your files, apps and most settings, solves many problems while also bringing it up to the latest version 1903 which you need anyway and by the most stable method. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m....

Hi Andre

I am running Version 1903 and it is a Pretty Fresh install, Maybe two month old and up to date with all Patches, etc...

I tried running the script but it made no Change to the behaviour.

I also filled a bug report, unfortunatly I have no link to it because it is not displayed it the Feedback hub for whatever reason.

OK I just tried something which could lead to an answer but it makes no real sense to me.

I created a local user on the machine, without a Microsoft account or anything, just plain local user and started the calculator app.

With that test user, the app acts  normal as it should. So, how does my normal user account which is linkes to my Outlook.de account, affect the calculator app to act so wired?

That is definitely a bug if it works fine in a local account but not under a Microsoft Account. Could be a region based issue, because I am using a Microsoft Account under 1903 and the calculator works fine.

Go ahead submit the bug report, send me the short link so I can vote on it for you and bring it to the attention of the engineers.
