Windows 10 becomes suddently very slow and unusable after July 2022 update

Hello,

Not sure that it's related to Windows but since 1 week, we have very strange things happening on laptops.

They becomes suddently very very very slow and unusable and if we check CPU and memory, it's all at 100% but... it's like we miss some piece of CPU and memory.

Laptops becomes very hot and we have to shut them down.

It happens on few numbers of laptops at this moment but it's very strange. It starts just after the july 2022 patch (Windows 10). Not sure that this is related or not to this patch update.

Visit the laptop makers support to update all drivers & Bios

On a modern laptop there should be a makers update shortcut on the desktop

Hello Nicolas_126,

Good day! I'm John Dev a Windows user like you and I'll be happy to assist you today. I know this has been difficult for you, Rest assured, I'm going to do my best to help you.

Please try uninstalling the recent July update(KB5015807) if it helps.

Press Windows key+I to open Settings
Select Update and Security > View update history
Click Uninstall Updates
Under Microsoft Windows, select the recent July update(KB5015807) in the list then Click Uninstall
Wait for the update to uninstall
Restart your computer

Once uninstalled and if this fixes the issue, please try to 'Pause updates for 7 days'.

You can also use the “Show or Hide Updates” troubleshooter to hide the problematic update. Window Update won’t install hidden drivers or updates. Run the troubleshooter then please try to hide KB5015807 update that will show in the list. You may try restarting your pc if it helps.

So, i have removed the KB and as 1st result i can notice:

- FAN is way more cool

- CPU temperature is way more cool than before (40-50 °C against 95 °C before)

- Video card temperature is way more cool than before (50-60°C vs 99°C before).

I will push my test to confirm that 1st result and will give you news asap.

Hello John,

So just to make a shot explanation on which computer exactly happens the issue.

We have noticed that only laptops older than 1 year are impacted and only when they are connecter to host station with 2 screens thru thunderbolt.

Don't know exactly why but following feedback of users, when i remove the KB, problems stop and temperature of laptops go back to normal situation.

I will continue my test but the bad things of that issue is that the heat of the laptops destroy the FAN and motherboards (already change 3 FANs and 1 motherboard).

Regards,

Nico

Hello Nicolas_126,

Thank you for updating me with that information. I recommend reporting the issue via Feedback Hub app to notify Microsoft.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/sen...

There is a new update preview for Windows 10 that will be released in the coming days and hopefully it will fix the issue. I recommend checking and testing it first on a device when it arrives.

I am having the same problem. It started on Thursday July 21,2022. Not sure if related 100% to that one update of if something with drivers? We have mostly intel PCs. Sophos AV, heavy on One Drive use, tried uninstalling Sophos, didn’t help. Pdf opening with Adobe and opening explorer super laggy. Please help figure this out Microsoft!!
