Windows 10 64 bit 1803 -- Apple Software Update -- always same updates shown

I have a problem for some time.  One of my Windows 10 64 bit1803 computer has a problem with the Apple Software Update system.  Every time the software starts, the same updates appear to be listed. I select the items to update and the software reports the updates to be installed.  However, when I run the update software again, the same updates are shown.

Apple support forums are not helpful.  No one gives any advice besides the "boring" uninstall ALL the Apple software (iTunes, iCloud, Apple Software Update etc..,) restart the Windows 10 computer and re-install the Apple software.   They say that this "guarantees" the Update software will be fixed.   I tried many times and no change.  It never fixes it.

Can you try updating from a different account?

Open Start
Type: cmd
Right click CMD
Click Run as administrator

At the command prompt, type:
net user administrator /active:yes

Hit Enter

Close command prompt, restart, then try signing into the Administrator account.

Try updating again.

Tried this but Administrator account did not seem to have the software installed in the profile.  Will have to look again.

Then there is something wrong with the installation.

I would remove the Apple Software Update program completely along with all Apple software.

Well, no. Since your Apple ID is usually your email account and that would be tied to your Windows Profile as well (more than likely) odds are you won't see iTunes in an all new profile.

There is no reason to remove iTunes and thereby lose access to much of your purchased music. I don't think Andre can have thought this through.

What it looks like to me is that your User Account Control is interfering with the software installation. You will either have to go into programs and individually allow the processes through your firewall

Go over here and make sure all the boxes for Apple Software are checked:

OR uninstall and reinstall Apple iTunes.

I have checked the firewall settings and all seems to be correct.  Fortunately the problematic is not my primary iTunes computer.  And yes, I have tried the un-install / re-install process, as per Apple's standard response.  Still the update software is still recommending the same updates.

I just found that iTunes is now part of the Microsoft Store.  I guess it is Microsoft's responsibility for the updates now through the Store.
