Windows 10 2004 feature update error

Hi all,

I'm trying to do a feature update of Windows 10 from 1909 to 2004.  However, during the install, I get what appears to be a blocking app.  the *_HumanReadable.xml file tells me the name of the app is "OneDrive and Legacy filters" with a AppGuid of {afb67a42-a10a-48a0-9677-77b4d80efecc}, neither of which I can find in Add/Remove Programs, Win32_Product, or HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall.

Has anyone seen this?  Any idea what this is, or how I can get around it?

Cheers,

John Moe

Hi John,

It is noticed that Appraiser file does not give clear/correct information in ver 2004.

Hi Sumit,

What is Appraiser?

And I see nothing in that list that mentions any issue with OneDrive.

Hi John,

The full name of the file is Appraiser_HumanReadable.xml.

Can you share the screenshot of the block when you try to use the Media Creation tool?

The fastest way to get the upgrade is through Media creation tool or ISO file.

Please download Media Creation Tool from the link below and select Upgrade this PC at the first screen.

All steps, including upgrading using ISO file and Media creation tool, are covered here:

Hi Sumit,

Sorry, I should have included more detail.  I'm pushing this feature update to test systems via SCCM, including my own system, which is one that is showing this blocker.  I'm not trying to install via ISO or USB.  SCCM is pushing the update down and kicking it off, so it doesn't appear to be a problem with SCCM.  The install began, went for about an hour or two, then displayed an error telling me there was an incompatible app.  Troubleshooting online let me to the folder C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther, where I was looking for the XML file that ended in "HumanReadable" that was longer (there are two).  And now that I'm grabbing that filename to paste in here, I'm noticing that indeed, "APPRAISER" is there in the middle: G0eqfJW-FEiSDIbG.9.0.0.3.6.8.0.0_APPRAISER_HumanReadable.xml.  Sorry, I missed that before.

And while your method may be quicker for one, it's not when I have a fleet of 1,500 systems across Australia that are going to need to be upgraded.  :-)

I've had 6 successes so far, but at least two that are stuck on this particular app blocker.  That's 1/4, which potentially could be a lot of systems, so I'd like to know what the blocker is so I can deal with it more widely.

Cheers,

John Moe

Thanks John for the additional clarification. As this is a Home consumer forum, you would need to ask our Friends at Technet, which is suited for SCCM and IT Pro.

John,

We're having the exact same problem you are, the *_HumanReadable.xml file gives us the same error about the "OneDrive and Legacy filters" app with a AppGuid of {afb67a42-a10a-48a0-9677-77b4d80efecc}.  We are using WSUS for in place 2004 upgrades, and only have experienced this issue on some of our machines.  Some machines of the same model (same hardware, drivers, etc) have this issue, while others upgrade to 2004 properly.

Have you had any luck with Tecnet and this?

Thanks

David

Hi Sumit,

Thanks for that.  I had thought TechNet died with so many other things in the mad rush to cloud and other changes recently.  I'll post over there.

Hi David,

I literally just got in to find this in my inbox now, and hadn't even had a chance to do anything with it.  :-)  I've just posted here if you want to follow: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/59968c65-cc24-456c-9e9d-728dc58feeaa/windows-10-2004-feature-update-error?forum=win10itprogeneral

I solved it here simply by uninstalling OneDrive, if it doesn't appear for you, try installing OneDrive (normal and business version) and after uninstalling them

Do you mean the built-in OneDrive client that comes with Windows?  And what, then reinstall after the upgrade?  Sounds awfully messy to me.

I uninstalled OneDrive but still had the blocker (afb67a42-a10a-48a0-9677-77b4d80efecc) installed somewhere. Slept on it - and decided it must be in another user profile.

I removed some outstanding user profiles and upgrade worked. I'm guessing here that if you still see the issue, you'll need to remove OneDrive from every user profile that has it installed.
