WINDOW TEN PRO WON'T BOOTUP

Hello,

I have a PC with window ten pro installed. Recently the PC would boot up and I could open an application. Within two minutes everything would stop. The mouse would not move, none of the function keys worked. I would restart it, same thing.

When I try to restart (pressing either the shift key or the f8 key??) I does take me to the "choose an option" menu. I am able to hit troubleshoot. When I hit either "reset this pc", or "advanced options" everything just freezes.

When I purchased this PC many years ago, it came with window 7 pro installed. I can't find the windows ten pro key, but for some reason, I think there was a free offer from microsoft to upgrade from 7 pro to 10 pro? The reason I think this to be true is because I keep all of that stuff.

Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it!

Regards,

Scott

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

If all options in the Recovery Environment including System Restore, accessing Safe Mode, uninstalling the latest update and performing a Windows reset are failing, then you will need to create a bootable Windows 10 USB on another working PC and boot your PC from that, then rather than installing Windows 10, select ‘Repair this Computer’ that will give you access to the Recovery Environment from there

In the Recovery Environment on the USB, try each available recovery option.

Click this link:
https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/win...
to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can download the latest Windows 10 ISO (Select Create Installation Media for Another PC), you can create a bootable USB flash drive (min 8GB) using that tool

Then, Boot your PC from the Installation Media you just created (change Boot Order in your BIOS)

Hello Dave,

So I gave this a try last evening. Unfortunately it did not work. When I get to "repair this computer" my PC just freezes. I can still log onto windows 10, same thing, after about a minute, it just freezes. Like when I try to do a system restore. By the time I open it, the PC just freezes.

Any other suggestions?
