• Is the situation a recent phenomenon?

  Or has it existed for a long time?

• Were there any special events in the device before the situation first occurred?

  For example, system update, driver update, application update, BIOS update, firmware update?

• Safe mode loads restricted drivers and services. It can generally be used to minimize unnecessary software-level distractions.

  Does File Explorer crash frequently when you observe it in a relatively clean safe mode?

  When you restart your PC, press and hold the Shift key while you select Power > Restart.

  The device will boot into Windows Recovery Environment.

  Once in Windows RE, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.

  Select Restart, once the device reboots, in the Startup Settings screen pick one of the available options, or press Enter to boot Windows normally.
