Why is my "Java Update Checker" icon gone?

I've been receiving Java Update Checker notifications, with an orange Java icon going in the right side of the taskbar in the up-arrow place, but yesterday I realized that it was gone, and every time I turn on my computer, it doesn't appear anymore.

Today, I turned on my computer, and it's still not appearing, I don't know if it takes more time to appear, or something else.

Also, I did NOT update or touch the Java Update Menu/notification, so this is not a cause.

And I searched that a java update could actually be a virus, how would I detect if it actually was?

I have a Java Panel that looks pretty official.

Hi, I'm Elise, a fellow user like yourself and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

If you go to the Setting > Apps > Apps & Features is Java listed there?

If you are concerned about this not updating correctly I would suggest removing the app from here and then downloading the latest version from Java.com

Java updater is a valid app but there is malware which can mimic how it operates, to check it there is a threat you can used Windows security:

Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security and then Virus & threat protection. Open Windows Security settings.

Under Current threats, select Quick scan (or in early versions of Windows 10, under Threat history, select Scan now).

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Kind Regards,
Elise

The icon in setting apps is there, and I did a quick scan, but why is the Java Update Notification gone? It used to appear every time I turned on my PC. If you know please answer.

It could be that there is no longer an update available, an update was already installed or there is an issue with the Java installation.

To correct I would recommend reinstalling Java with the steps I previously advised.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Kind Regards,
Elise
