Why is my cursor moving and clicking the top left of my screen and refreshing the screen?

Hello, my mouse cursor will randomly jump and move to the top left corner of the screen and click. It will also click to the left where the cursor is on the screen. The screen will also randomly refresh. Also, the winget menu would randomly open constantly so I completely removed it from my computer. I have updated my laptop and restarted it. I know this is a software issue as when using either my mouse or trackpad the problem occurs. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out. My name is, Zadee. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be glad to help you today.

Let's see if there are malicious services or apps messing with your pad or mouse drivers. For testing purposes can you create a new local user profile on your computer, please? Switch to it and test it there and see if it gives you the same results.

You should be able to create the profile under,
> Settings
> Account
> Other users
> under Other users click Add account
> I don't have this person sign in info
> Add user without a MS account.

Then just fill up the fields to name the test account, and follow the process to finish creating the account.

Keep me posted.

Hello Zadee,

Thank you for assisting. I followed your instructions. With the new user, I opened chrome and within 2 minutes my cursor jumped to the top left-hand corner and the window was made into full view, without me touching the computer.

Thanks for that info. Can you share your system info, please? Let's check if you have a BIOS update and see if that fixes the issue.

-On your keyboard, press Win + R
-Type: msinfo32, press enter
-Take a screenshot of the System Information, make sure to get the System Model, Baseboard Manufacturer, and Product
-Then upload it here

Also, I would like to note this started after I started plugging the computer into a monitor. However, this did not happen before with other monitors and persists with or without the monitor plugged in

Please try updating your BIOS, you have an older version (1.23). There's now 1.56. This may help.

You may have to reboot on every installation.

Hi Zadee,

I updated my BIOS, unfortunately the problem still persists. The mouse clicking slightly to the left of where it appears has become worse. Is there anyway I can talk to a representative that maybe takes over my computer? I can keep trying things but I need my computer for certain tasks and it is hard to even respond to this message.

Can we try to observe this as well in safe mode? Safe mode runs very minimal windows functions so if this is a software issue, you should not be seeing the problem there as that software will not run in safe mode. Otherwise, the problem may be with the hardware if that still continues.

-Win + R to open run box
-Type: msconfig <Enter>
-Select Boot tab
-Check Safe boot
-Hit Ok, then Restart the computer

Thank you. At this point, you may want to have this checked for hardware problems by a hardware computer specialist, mbaumbach. There's one more thing you can try, to reset Windows. You won't lose files but you'd have to reinstall all the applications. I suggest performing this because if you bring this into a shop, it's likely going to get reset anyway.

If you decide to proceed, you will need a USB of at least 8GB. Once you have that, you can follow the steps below:

1. Plug the USB in

2. Go to this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

3. Click "Download Tool Now" button under "Create Windows 11 installation media". Once download is done. Run it.

4. Accept Terms

5. Select Create Installation Media

6. Leave User recommended options for this PC CHECKED

7. Select USB Flash Drive

8. Select the Storage or USB you need this installer to get stored to

9. Download Starts, wait for it to finish.

10. Once the download is done, go to BIOS and boot the USB as primary and save. (Vid guide below. Only follow step 3 for this)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJCkI14Lcd4&...

13. Reinstall Windows by following these steps,
>Clicking the "Install" button
>Custom Install
>DO NOT delete your partitions, otherwise, your data will be deleted
>Look for the partition which has the current (broken) OS, click it to highlight the partition, and hit NEXT

The installation will start. Just wait for it to finish.

Once the installation is done, go to your C drive, you should see a Windows.old folder in there. Files from your previous windows will be there, extract them and transfer them to your new OS. Anywhere in your drive as long as they are out from the Window.old folder. Once done, you can delete the .old folder to save storage space.

If the issue still persists after even resetting. Time to bring that in.

Good luck!
