Why I have BitLocker key in my account while I have w11 home and not pro?

When I go to my devices > info & support in my Microsoft account there is the "BitLocker data protection -

Device encryption helps protect your data" tab and when I click the "Manage Recovery Keys" button I go to a page named "BitLocker recovery keys" and I can see my laptop's name, my key ID, the recovery key, the driver and the date of upload. I have w11 home not pro. As far as I know w11 home has the basic Device Encryption and not the BitLocker as the w11 pro. So, what is this "BitLocker recovery keys". Is it just the key for the basic Device Encryption of w11 home. If so, then why it says "BitLocker recovery keys". If not, then what is the key for the basic Device Encryption of w11 home? What key should I use if my system asks for a code?

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out! I'm Microsoft user like you.

Device encryption is a simplified version of BitLocker in Windows 11 Home. When you enable the feature, the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption algorithm scrambles the data on the primary and secondary drives to protect your information, and only you with the right password can access it.

The primary distinction between BitLocker and BitLocker device encryption is that BitLocker, which provides more management options, is only included in Windows 11 Pro and higher editions.

So, the "BitLocker recovery keys" page in my Microsoft account where I can see the recovery key is just for the Device encryption? I am asking because it's saying BitLocker recovery keys and as I understand I don't use BitLocker in my w11 home.

Hello, is your device from Dell or Lenovo? We've been seeing these manufacturers putting bitlocker on their devices even for Windows home edition. For example, this is an article from Dell:

Automatic Windows Device Encryption or BitLocker on Dell Computers | Dell US See screenshot below for the section I quoted. The technology is offered via the manufacturer and is activated via OOBE process. The key is stored with the Microsoft account you use via the initial set up.
