Why does the service for windows 10 end in 2020 will there be another version or is Microsoft just going to drop windows altogether?

If windows 10 is to be the last version of windows then why does the service for windows 10 end in 2020 will there be another version or is Microsoft just going to drop windows altogether? Because if that is the case than I will definitely need to think again about upgrading.
