If you know what specific device in your system is going through this issue, I suggest you do the following:
1. Click the Start button, type Device Manager, and press Enter.
2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and select Uninstall.
3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, select the Delete the driver software for this device option and select OK.
4. Restart your OS.

After startup, download the latest version of the audio driver from your PC manufacturer’s website and run the installer to install the same, although windows will most likely automatically install the related generic driver after startup, which should be working again as properly.
