Where is the snip tool moving to?

Where is the snip tool moving to? Will we still be able to use this Snip tool once it is moved or will we be forced into using a replacement?

Hi jonalisa

The Snipping tool is being phased out in favor of the new Snip and Sketch App

So that new App will take over, it has more functionality that the Snipping tool and is easy to use . . .

I'm really quite frustrated with Microsoft's insistence on moving apps that were once included in the operating system into the Windows Store. As an administrator in a High School environment, we have locked down the Windows Store in earlier releases of Windows 10. Now we have to look at how to manage it given that things like Snip and Sketch, and Photos can only be found in the Windows Store.

So the pop-up message that says Snip is moving is BS.  They are replacing it with some bloated app.  When will they learn??  Like so many perfectly functional and well loved components, MS is going to screw it up again.  There used to be a great little photo editor and a fantastic File Manager (Windows 3.1 I think) which enabled you to have multiple windows open to simply find and copy files or folders got replaced by a clumsy "Explorer" which was designed to "help" you manage files.  If only they would commit their time to fixing some of the bugs that have been in Word for over 20 years instead messing with things that simply don't need to be messed with.

I am really, really bothered by #1) the disingenuous phrase "moving to a new home" in the alert message.  Makes it sound like the Snipping Tool is not going away, that it will still be available, just in a new spot; and #2) being forced to adapt to Snip and Sketch (whatever that is).

I don't mind having an alternative to the Snipping Tool.  If I had the choice to use them both, I might decide that Snip and Sketch really is better.  But I'd like the opportunity to decide for myself.
