When will the e1460-b305 errors get fixed?

Since I went to windows 11 on my Dell PC in Mid-August, I have been receiving e1460-b305 errors when I try to scan using my Epson WF-2860. I tried the 3 suggestions over the internet without success. What does work is using the disk that comes with the printer or the Epson combo-drivers for windows 11 but when a restart is done, the same error occurs. I can continue to use the Epson printer disk each time I need to do a restart, but I prefer a resolution to this issue.

Hello JamesButts_760,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

You can use the following methods:

1. Disable Compatibility Mode.

Right click on the Epson icon -> Properties -> Compatibility -> see if "Run this program in compatibility mode" is checked, if checked, cancel -> Apply -> OK -> close the Epson Scan app and open it again.

2. Manually enter the connection address.

Open Epson Scan - Settings - Connection - Network - Add - Select IP Address under "Search for address" - OK.

3..Enable WIA service

Type services in the taskbar search box -> find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) in the "Services" window -> right click and select properties -> click Startup type -> select Automatic -> under Services Status -> Start -> OK -> Apply.

4. Update the scanner driver.

Press Win+R ->type devmgmt.msc -> enter -> double click Imaging Devices -> find your scanner hardware, right click -> update driver -> "Browse my computer for driver software" -> select downloaded driver file and update -> Restart the computer.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,

Bob8 | Microsoft Community Support Specialist.

Thank You for the info. I have already tried the methods when I saw them over the internet, but I did try them again.

1. When I tried the first method, they were no compatibility mode versions.

2. There was no settings option for the second method. I can't get to first base.

3. It was already set for automatic, and start was shaded for the third method.

4. The fourth method is when I used the disk that came with the product otherwise the driver is up to date. The fourth method works but only until I do a restart.

Somehow the restart causes the problem to re occur.

May I ask whether restarting the service works?

Type services in the taskbar search box -> find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) in the "Services" window ->

Click Restart this service on the left

Or you can go to Epson's official website to update the latest driver.

Same problem here. It's maddening.

1.This was a bust. Compatibility Mode wasn't checked.

2. Same. I can't even open the application because of this incessant error. I can't get to first base.

3. I had previously set to automatic delayed, then reset to automatic. Neither of those worked at all.

4. I did this method and it just said the most updated driver was already installed.

None of these methods are working. I'm about to just return it to Sam's.

It works but when I do a restart the same problem occurs. It is easier to resolve instead of using the disk or download the drivers each time I needed to do a restart. I would like a solution which stays put after a restart.

I checked! I have my Epson USB 2 cable connected to a USB 2 port.

I also have a WF-2860 that is not one of the scanners mentioned.

The best way at the moment is to restart the WIA service, I recommended that you consult Epson's technical support if there is a solution that remains unchanged after restarting.

There is another way: Use the Windows Scan app to scan.

Note: Scanning requires an Internet connection.

  1. Download the Windows Scan app from the Microsoft Store.

  2. Open Windows Scan.

Note: Windows Scan is listed as Scan in the Windows Start Menu.

3. Select your scanner and options, if necessary, and then select the Scan button.

It looks like the last Microsoft update fixed the problem. Time will tell!
