When I press Win period to bring up the emoji selector it does nothing.

Hey,

I've been trying to get an emoji but it doesnt show up when I use the Win Period shortcut! It's really annoying me. I've tried on Google chrome and Microsoft Edge doing right click, and then the Emoji button and it just closes the menu and does NOTHING. I use Windows 11, version 24H2. I really need help.

Thanks,

Theo Cole

Hello Theo,

Let's make sure keyboard shortcut is not only affecting the emoji feature. Can you hold down Win+R to launch run box, or Ctrl+Shift+S to launch snipping tool, etc?

If other keyboard shortcuts are working but only the emoji one is not, consider a repair install. This is not a reset, so it is safe for your files and apps.

To perform a repair installation of Windows 11 using the Windows Media Creation Tool:

Download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's official website. https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/win... click on the "download now" button under "Create Windows 11 Installation Media"

Run the tool and select "Create installation media for another PC."

Choose "USB flash drive" as the media to use for the installation and select "Next."

Connect a USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of free space to your computer.

Select the USB flash drive you want to use, and then select "Next."

The tool will then download the required files and create the installation media.
=====================================================
Now these steps will  be done on your problematic computer:

Go to the USB drive via File Explorer, locate and run the Setup.exe file. Ideally, you should disconnect all USB and Bluetooth devices other than mouse and keyboard. Disable any 3rd party antivirus program. Disconnect the internet.

Once you run the Setup.exe file, choose the Install option, and the choose the option that keeps your files and apps.

Hello,

In response to your reply the Win + R shortcut for run works but ctrl + shift + s doesn't. I am not able to perform a repair install as I do not have a USB stick and I do not wish to use the repair method. Are there any other ways to get this working? If not, thanks anyway for your help as it is much appreciated. :)

Many thanks;

Theo

Oops.. it is Windows +Shift +S. My bad.

But if Win+R works, I don't think you have a shortcut issue.

I am afraid you will do a repair install.

You can also download the .iso to your current computer if you have free space. Very important, you need to download the .iso file, NOT to make the installation media when offerred. And you can run the rest of the steps from there by running the .iso file.
