WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR

I have a problem that started 2 weeks ago. The WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR started to appear with blue screens every 10-15 minutes or so if any heavy apps (games, editors, renders) were open. The problem is that this is a laptop so physical trouble shooting is hard.

What I did to try to resolve the problem:

Updated drivers - no fix

Updated Windows - no fix

Reinstalled Windows (Clean install) - no fix

Ran FurMark GPU stress test - ran 20 mins on 1440p and passed

Ran FurMark CPU burner - ran 10 mins on all cores and passed

Ran both GPU stress test and CPU burner at the same time - ran 10 mins and passed

Ran Memtest - passed 2 times

Reinstalled drivers on clean Windows - no fix

One thing that I noticed is in the Event Viewer the system has a lot of "Kernel-Power 41 (63)" critical errors. According to other informations on the internet this means that the system didnt get enough power. That is strange because this being a laptop has an external adapter and a battery too.

The laptop is an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45-R6ZA:

GPU: RTX 3060 Mobile

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H

RAM: 32GB @3200MHz (2x16 SODIMM)

Storage: 2 PCIe M.2 SSDs and one SATA SSD

I would really love to solve this problem, any help is appreciated.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

The event "Kernel-Power 41 (63)" is registered in all types of abrupt system shutdowns. Therefore, it is not an event that helps identify the cause of the problem.

Please see if your computer created minidump files.

These files are in "C:\Windows\Minidump".
(If you don't have a "Minidump" folder, check if it is in the plural "Minidumps".)

Copy any files you have to your desktop and store them in a ZIP file. Then, upload the ZIP file to the cloud (OneDrive), choose to share it, and get the link.

Post the link to the ZIP file here so I can have a look.

Hi, thanks for the fast reply.

Unfortunately I have no Minidump folder inside C:\Windows\*

And for more bad luck, I searched "*.dmp" inside the Windows folder and it returned nothing.

What should I do next?

Thanks for the clarification.

In this case, export and share the log for analysis:
1. Press "Windows + X" and select "Event Viewer";
2. Expand "Windows Logs" and select "System";
3. In the "Actions" panel on the right, select "Filter Current Log";
4. In "Event level", check the boxes "Critical", "Warning", and "Error" and click on "Ok";
5. Again, in the "Actions" panel, select "Save Filtered Log File As" and save in an easily accessible place.

Then, upload the file to the cloud (OneDrive), choose to share it, and get the link.

Post the link to the file here so I can have a look.

Sorry for the delay in reply. I've been offline.

I found entries indicating that there was an error creating the dump files. This is probably due to the type of crash that is happening.

I suggest you use the Driver Verifier utility. This utility is used to force the system to show the driver causing the problem.

Before turning on Driver Verifier, I like to create a restore point just in case. I suggest doing the same.
https://support.microsoft.com/windows/system-pr...

Turn on Driver Verifier, let the system crash 3 times, then turn off Driver Verifier. Share the minidumps that the crashes created.
(Pay attention to the blue screen that is displayed. Sometimes, it may contain useful information.)
See the article below for instructions.
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

If the system does not start after enabling Driver Verifier, follow the procedure suggested in the article to disable Driver Verifier instead of using the restore point you created. Use the restore point only if it is not possible to follow the procedure suggested in the article to disable the Driver Verifier.

Hey,

I just wanted to let you know that I didnt abandoned this thread, just my laptop decided to not crash today, I have been running the Driver Verifier utility for an hour now and nothing happens (except lagg spikes and micro freezes).

But strangely I found an intresting behavior:

The past crashes where occuring while I was editing or gaming AND when my battery was at 100%. Yesterday I unpluged it and let it down to 10% than pluged it back in. While it was charging there were no crashes, but as soon as it charged up it crashed. I dont know if it was a coincidence but I will let it charge up while Driver Verifier is running. I am currently at 73% and should be charged up in ~30 mins.

Thanks for keeping me updated.

What you mentioned could be an indication of a hardware issue. However, it's premature to conclude that hardware is the root cause of the crashes. It's advisable to first attempt software-related troubleshooting steps. I only want to be transparent with you.

I'll keep waiting to see if Driver Verifier causes any crashes. Please share the minidump if any crashes occur.

Hi,

Finally as I was sutting down my computer after hours, just as I clicked shutdown a crash happened.

The bluescreen said "page fault in nonpaged area".

This is the dump of that:

Minidump.zip

Also another .dmp file was created but not in the Minidump folder bit inside the %Appdata% folder

This is that file:

ACCStd.exe.13004.dmp

This was just one crash insted of 3 but it took so long I tought I will update you. If anything new happens I will update.

Edit: Another .dmp file was created in the Windows folder it is called MEMORY.dmp and its 2GB. If thats needed let me know and I will upload that too.

Sorry for the delay in reply. I've been offline.

Do not share the MEMORY.DMP file as it may contain personal information. Only share the minidump files.

The file "ACCStd.exe.13004.dmp" was not generated by Windows. Based on my search, it seems to have been generated by the "Acer Care Center". You might consider reinstalling or uninstalling the software.

The minidump generated by Windows mentions the driver "mtkbtfilterx.sys" as the cause of the crash. This driver belongs to your laptop's MediaTek Bluetooth adapter.

I suggest reinstalling the Bluetooth driver as instructed below.

Before starting the procedure, download the latest driver for your computer from the link below.
https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver...
(Extract the ZIP file, and double-click the file "Setup_Driver" to run the installer.)

Disconnect from the internet to prevent Windows from installing the driver automatically.
(Turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect the Ethernet cable during the entire procedure.)

Uninstall the current driver:
1. Open "Device Manager" (Windows + X and select Device Manager);
2. Expand "Bluetooth";
3. Right-click on the MediaTek Bluetooth adapter and select "Uninstall device";
(If you don't identify the correct one, share a screenshot. Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.)
4. On the confirmation screen, check "Delete the driver software for this device" and click "Ok";
5. Restart the PC.

Then, run the driver installer you downloaded and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.

Then, restart your PC and see if the system will work stably.

If the crash occurs again after doing this, share the minidump it created. Click on the "Reply" button below my reply.
