WhatsApp Desktop app continuously disappearing after pinning it to the taskbar

Try running SFC Scan & DISM. Here's how to do it:

> Right-click your Windows start menu icon
> Select Windows PowerShell (Admin)
> Type sfc /scannow and press enter and wait until it finishes
> Check if it fixed.

If this doesn't fix, try the following:

> Right-click your Windows start menu icon
> Select Windows PowerShell (Admin)
> Type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press enter and wait until it finishes
> Check if it fixed.

I've seen this as well the past days - super weird! 

@Caio G: Both of your answers did unfortunately not resolve the issue...

Today the WhatsApp icon suddenly disappeared again and on the task bar it seems as WhatsApp would update itself, but nothing happens with the white bar either (no update process seems to take place (as you see in profile pic))

I'm sorry but I ran out of ideas. Maybe someone else can help you with an alternate solution.

Pretty interesting. Tonight I found out, that when I pin my task bar to the left side of my screen and press the start button, then weirdly I see the WhatsApp Desktop icon at a place where it should not supposed to be:

Any ideas how this could happen and how I get the icon to the right place? I also figured out, that when I press the start button when the taskbar is pinned to the bottom, where it normally is, the WhatsApp icon quickly appers too on the left side (in the same size than in the screenshot above). I can see it on the top left corner on my screen but it suddenly disappears again... Is that a problem of Microsoft or of WhatsApp??

The WhatsApp icon seems to have replaced the start menu start button when I click on it:

However I can not drag nor drop it nor right click on it...

Did anyone ever have such an issue and knows how to fix it??

That's what happens when I click the on/off button in the start menu:

I can not move or right click the WhatsApp Desktop icon that then appears on the top left corner...

I think I found the solution to the problem. Resetting the app didn't help - but uninstalling and reinstalling it from the store. That this idea did not come up to my mind before 😁😁

Update: Uninstalling and re-installing from the store did not solve the problem. The only 'problem' that is solved is that the app doesn't appear as replacement of my start button in the taskbar or on the left side on Windows anymore when I click on start. It is still disappering in the taskbar though from time to time and only re-appears when I add the app as link in the taskbar manually again (maybe it has an impact whether I open and use the app or whether I'm not opening it - I have a suspicion here...)

i don't know if it's called a solution but, i used whatsapp desktop directly downloaded from whatsapp official webpage and that can be pinned without issue

However I prefer the store app over the regular version. And 2 or 3 weeks ago I was able to pin the app without any problems to the taskbar (as I can do with any other app too). The problem of the link disappearing from the taskbar started a few weeks ago. And so far I have not found a solution for it yet...

me too, same problem, so i switched to the whatsapp from official page because every time unpinned is just annoying
