What partition for clean installation of Windows 10 64-bit should be used?

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me please which partition I should install Windows on please?

I've read around other posts but still not that sure. I think I'm right in saying it's NOT Partition 2, the OEM (reserved) one. But not sure if I need to go for Partition 1 or the Unallocated Space one?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi there :)

As the guys explained, the most appropriate partition would be the unallocated one as the installed would make a partition there and the space is enough for the OS to be installed there.

However, as Andre pointed out, if you can you should delete all current partitions and let the installer format the drive properly. This does erase all data from the drive so if you have something important there make sure you back it up first before erasing it.

If this is an old drive I would also recommend that you check the drive's health before trusting your data to it. I would recommend using a tool from the manufacturer.

What's the drive's brand and model?
