Webcam video sound recording

Hi,

I have a dell Inspirion 15 700 series core i7 windows 10. I am trying to record a video introduction using the webcam app that came with the laptop and the video recoding is fine, but I cannot for the life of me record my voice. Please advise.

What application are you using to do this recording.

Does it have an audio test function?

Go into Settings > Microphone and make sure the "Let apps use my microphone" option is turned on. And that your specific application has been allowed to use the microphone.

You may want to give the Win10 GameBar a try to record audio and screen capture:

the Game bar lets you record game clips, take screenshots, and even stream your gaming sessions on the internet, for everyone to see.

There does not seem to be a : 'Let apps use my microphone' setting.

It's the webcam/photo app with a 'camera icon that come with my laptop. Not sure of the app name or if it comes with mic.

Please advise.

The Win 10 Camera app is brain dead simple. No fancy features.

It says "Camera" in the upper right corner of the application title bar, and on the right margin there is a big white circle with a either a simple graphic of a SLR camera head on or a side profile of a movie camera.

If the SLR graphic is showing click on the tiny movie camera icon to make video recording mode current. Click on the movie camera again to start the recording and switch the icon to a red stop button. Click on the red button to stop the recording. The recording will be saved to the Camera Roll library.
