Webcam Issues - Dell Inspiron 15 7577 - Windows 10

Good Afternoon:

I have not used my webcam on the above-referenced laptop for quite some time.  I went to use it on zoom (quarantine fun etc), and neither zoom nor skype will recognize that there is an integrated Webcam. After further investigation, the Camera app comes up with "0XA00F4244"NoCamerasAreAttached".

I have searched as much as I can - the webcam is enabled in BIOS; I reinstalled Windows; I have completed all updates in the updater, and nothing will work.  The integrated webcam does not appear anywhere in device manager.  I am, unfortunately at a loss.

Please assist!

Hello MLeo3,

I'm John an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I understand you have a problem with your laptop camera. Did you made any changes recently? What is your current windows version and edition? Press WIN+I, select System then About. Do you see any errors?

I compiled below solutions for you to try.

Some laptops have a privacy switch or a camera shutter key that can be used to turn off your webcam and prevent it from being used.

Camera Privacy Switch located at the right side of the laptop

Camera Shutter Key located on the keyboard

Please try to press FN+F6 or F10. or try other F key combinations.

Press Start then search command prompt
Right click then run as administrator (note: try to disable translation to see the correct command)
type: msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic
Run the troubleshooter
Restart your PC

Step 1. Give your apps permission
If you recently updated Windows 10, you might need to give apps permission to use the camera. In newer versions of Windows 10, some apps don’t have default access to the camera.

To let apps access the camera, select the Start button, and then select Settings > Privacy > Camera. Then turn on Allow access to camera on this device.

Step 2. Check your antivirus software
In your antivirus software settings, look for settings that block access to your camera or permission to use your webcam. For help, visit your antivirus software company’s website.

Step 3. Update a device driver using Windows Update

In the search box on the taskbar, type check for updates, then select Check for updates from the list of results.
Under Windows Update, select Check for updates. Windows Update will tell you if you need any updates or not, and whether the latest updates were successfully installed.

Step 4. Download and install the camera driver

In the search box on the taskbar, type device manager, then select Device Manager from the list of results.
In the list of hardware categories, find the device that you want to update, and then double-click the device name.
Click the Driver tab, click Update Driver, and then follow the instructions.

Please go to your manufacturer's Support Page. Download and install latest drivers for your camera.

Step 5. Roll back your webcam driver
Press Start then search Device Manager
Right-click the camera, and select the Properties option.
Click the Driver tab.
Click the Roll Back Driver button.
Click the Yes button to confirm.
Restart your computer.

Step 6. Uninstall your webcam driver
Press Start then search Device Manager
Right-click the camera, and select Uninstall device.
Put a check on the box "Delete the driver software for this device"
Click Uninstall
Restart your computer and Windows will automatically install the driver after log in

Step 7. If your camera isn't listed in Device manager, test ports and run a scan
If your camera isn't found in Device Manager, first try using the camera with a different port on your device. If that doesn't work, try these steps:

Open Device Manager.
Click your Computer name then click Action tab
Add a legacy hardware then Click Next
Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)
Select Imaging Devices then Next
Manufacturer = Kyocera then Model = 260ci WIA Driver (USB)
Click Next then Restart your Computer.

if an update does not work then it might be a more serious issue.

Unfortunately, the FN key combos did not do anything.  The following are what occurred for each of your recommendations:

1. Already allowed - turned off then on. Still not working.

2. Windows Defender is my default. i do not see any way to change settings there - mcafee firewall is not user friendly so I could not change many settings.

3. I am up to date on all known drivers.

4. I cannot find any mention of an integrated webcam in device manager (or any other webcam, for that matter). I cannot even determine what my base integrated webcam would be, and looking for drivers with support from Dell does not provide the individual webcam driver for my machine.

5. Like 4, I find no mention of camera or any other webcam type device.

6. Same as 4 and 5.

7. I attempted this. There is no mention of kyocera, only microsoft, and the only items listed are scanners.

I have also done everything mentioned in the if the camera does not work in windows 10 link, to no avail.

Any other recommendations?

I'm having the same issue and tried all the suggestions. I'm needing it for zoom class. Last resort might be contacting Dell itself if under warranty. Best of luck. I'm following the tread.

Sometimes you might be required to update drivers in your windows pc after installing new hardware to your pc if the hardware doesn’t work automatically or fails to work as expected. Although Windows drivers automatically update themselves after upgrading a computer to a new Windows version, some drivers also require you to update them manually.

This issue might be related to your Drivers, read this tip on how to fix windows driver errors.
