We can't create a rcovery drive on this PC - Some required files are missing....

I got the following error message when trying to create a recovery drive in win10 .  "We can't create a rcovery drive on this PC - Some required files are missing....

The OS was upgraded from win7 pro to win10 in 2015.  My question is how do I determine which programs are missing and how to get them.

Hi Howard,

Thank you for posting in Community.

We are glad to provide the assistance you required to resolve the issue.

As per the information that you have provided, you may be facing the above error if your system files may be corrupted or damaged. To rectify this, I suggest that you run the scans mentioned below and check.

Method 1: SFC

System File Checker [SFC] scan on the computer which will replace the missing or corrupt files & check if the issue persists.

a. Right click on the Start Menu, locate and select Command Prompt (Admin).

Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

b. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

sfc /scannow

Method 2: DISM

Follow the steps to Run DISM Commands:

1) Press Windows + x on your keyboard.

2) Select Command prompt (Admin) to open Administrator Command Prompt.

3) In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press the Enter key after each command:

     dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
     dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Hope this helps
