Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne(Game Freezes while loading RANDOMLY)

The game Warcraft III: Frozen Throne is not compatible with Windows 8.1. Hence you are facing issue running this game on Windows 8.1. Refer this Microsoft Compatibility Center Link:

Follow these methods and check if it helps:
Method 1: Follow the steps to run the game in Compatibility mode:
a. Right click on the shortcut game icon on desktop and click Properties.
b. Click on Compatibility tab.
b. Place a check in the Run this program in compatibility mode box.
c. Tap or click the drop down box and select a previous Operating System, then tap or click OK.
Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows

The memory could not be 'read' for Warcraft 3 frozen throne is common error for game it has nothing to do with computer hardware memory.
I think you are having problem of the copy of the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Make sure this problem by installing Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne on your friends computer. If it works overthere then it is the problem of your computer configuration or your installation. But, if it don't work over there also then you need to use other cd for installing Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne on your computer.
I would suggest you to contact Warcraft 3 support and check for latest updates and patches for game in order to make it work with Windows 8.

Not sure if you got it fixed? Anyway, I've had the same issue as you (with Windows 8.1) and accidentally found a solution to the problem. I've tried a different copy of the game (One I copied to a USB from a friend) and found an application "War3 Screen Resolution". The copied version of the game gave me the exact same error on my PC but worked on my friend's. I've simply ran it as administrator, without any compatibility mode, and chose the Frozen Throne icon....

If I use the War3screenrsolution, sometimes if I get a error, don't know why, I just click I just click retry until it goes in...
