Video Editor in Windows 10 stopped working after few minutes - black screen for videos on story board

Hi community,

I have tried the Video Editor (part of the Photos application) in Windows 10 to create video. I have created new project and worked on it for couple hours. I am having there couple of dozens trimmed videos. Last time when I was working on my project the application stopped working after few minutes. Video Editor is showing black screens for videos on story board. When I tried to trim or split the videos it's showing only a black screen. I have restarted and reinstalled the application, but it didn't solved my problem. Please help.

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing issues while using the Photos app to create videos on it. For further clarity on the issue, please respond to the questions below.

  1. Are you aware of any changes made to the PC prior to which you weren’t facing this issue?

  2. Which build version of Windows 10 are you using currently?

  3. How did you re-install the app?

Refer the article Which version of Windows operating system am I running?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to follow the suggestions below and see if that helps.

Method 1:

I would suggest you to try running the app troubleshooter and see if that helps. You can refer the article Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store

However, you can also try re-registering the apps and see if that helps.

  1. Press Windows + X key together and select Windows PowerShell (Admin)

  2. Now type in the following command and hit enter: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

  3. Restart the PC.

Method 2:

Create a new user account and test the app to isolate the issue related to user account corruption. Refer the article Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10

If the issue persist, please get back to us with the results of the troubleshooting steps to assist you further.
