Vertical lines on a PC screen

Please can someone help me, my PC displays vertical lines on since the most recent windows 10 update.

I have changed the VGA cable and Monitor but it still not solved the problem.

Seems like the issue has to do with Nvidia video card, which i have uninstalled and reinstalled but still not solved issue.

Attached are the screenshots of my PC.

What is the make and model of your computer?

What have you done so far to troubleshoot the problem?

How long has this been happening?

Have you checked the manufacturers website or contact support find out about compatibility, updates or support for Windows 10?

Do you have a system restore point created you could go back to?

Does the problem occur in other user accounts on the computer?

Which version of Windows 10 is currently installed: 1507, 1511, 1607, 1703, 1709?
See how to find the version;

Which version of Windows did you upgrade from?

Awaiting your reply.

I'm Greg, a volunteer installation specialist and 8 year WIndows MVP here to help you.

Have you checked for Windows Updates and expedited their install to see if a newer Display driver is delivered? Do that now at Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update.

Next try updating the Nvidia Display driver from the 1) PC or 2) Nvidia Device's (in that order) Support Downloads web page.

What I would do if you haven't yet is manually install Fall Creator Version 1709 by installing Media Creation Tool and choosing to Upgrade Now. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m....

This the most stable method to upgrade to the new version (which you need anyway) and will bring you fully up to date with reinstalled Windows that often will solve any other problems you have.

You can use the same tool to download the ISO or create bootable media so you only need to do it once, and have the bootable media for repairs or possible Clean Install.

If there are any hurdles during the Upgrade see these steps to optimize the install as this is evidence it's corrupted: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

After install be sure to immediately Check for Updates and expedite their install until no more are offered when you go back to check.

If problems persist with the new version then you can roll it back and hide it with the Hide Updates tool to wait for it to mature more: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/rollback-uninstal...
Hide Updates Tool: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

But remember that a factory or Upgrade install are inferior installs that most enthusiasts would never run in the first place because they'd expect endless issues. Most prefer to do the gold standard Clean install from this link which has had no reported issues: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I'll keep working with you until this is resolved.

You can also check at Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update under Installed Updates if this might have been caused by a recent Windows Update install, then uninstall the Updates from the link there, hide the Updates using the Hide Updates tool here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

If however this was the Version 1703 update you might also be able to roll it back in Settings>Update & Security>Recovery, however I would not do this except as the very last resort having confirmed the display adapter is no longer supported. Focus instead on getting the latest driver installed to see if that works, and manually updating to the latest version which may already have the driver and to see if it supports it.

What is the specific model number of the Dell Inspiron? I suspect you are experiencing a compatibility issue with Windows 10 1709 or the recent November update.

I recommend you uninstall the KB4048955

Press Windows key + R
Type: appwiz.cpl
Hit Enter
Click View installed updates
Select the recent update
(This is the update you want to uninstall KB4048955)KB4048954
KB4049011

Right click it then click uninstall.

Restart then see if stability is restored.

The update might try to install again. So, try blocking it.

Is there an option or work around to block updates or hardware drivers that might cause problems?
Yes, Microsoft has released a KB update (KB3073930) that will let users block or hide Windows or driver updates.

You can download it at the following link:

Thanks everyone for your quick responses, this is my home PC and i got home very late last night to try any of the suggested solutions.

Just to confirm the PC is Dell Inspiron 530 manufactured in March 2008

I have gradually upgraded it over the years from windows Vista to Windows 7 and to Windows 10.

Also upgraded the RAM from the initial 2GB to 8GB and change the HDD to SSD

I will try all the above suggestions when i get home tonight and update the outcome tomorrow

Cheers

Followed your instruction and uninstalled update "KB4048954 " restarted PC and its got stuck on windows booting screen with the spinning circle for about an hour.

I pulled the power cable, powered it back on again, it ran an automatic repair process and got to the screen with RESTART and ADVANCED OPTIONS.

However my mouse or keyboard wouldn't work to choose either options.
