Why in Windows 11 in Task Manager am I getting the pause symbol and the message “This UWP process is suspending processes to improve system performance” next to 6 or 7 processes and apps all the time including apps I’m currently using.

I understand the issue you have, nothing to worry I am here to help, the UWP process is suspended due to 2 reasons, the first is that there are applications that are minimized running in background, second if the laptop is entering low-power state, it happens when your battery is low, or the power supply is not providing the right amount of power, in addition, you may follow the steps below if none of the above is the root cause:
Method 1. Restore default power options
-Press the Windows key + R then type:
powercfg -restoredefaultschemes
-Restart the PC and check.
Method 2. Run power Troubleshooter
- Press the Windows key + R then type:
msdt.exe /id PowerDiagnostic
- Click OK then follow the prompts to run the power troubleshooter
-Restart the device after
Method 3. Do clean boot:
A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.
- In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.
- On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all.
- On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.
- Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then select Disable.
- Close Task Manager.
- On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it's in a clean boot environment.

Thanks I will try these. I will say, however that my laptop is always plugged in, never on battery. And it’s often the same system processes: Mail, Settings, Window Input Experience, Windows Default Lock Screen, etc. then there are random processes too related to apps.

I had this issue just come up out of nowhere: on a desktop- so no battery issues. Wifi all good 👍. And i been playing minecraft for months on this comp- and never seen these pause symbols EVER in task manager. I seen the leafs but these “suspended uwp” pause symbols are all over the place. Wth! And finding background apps as most references say- is not on win 11!
I got the stupid things to at least allow the programs to run, but i would totally burn and delete whatever is causing this!!
Im not sure which fixed it but i went to system-power-powermode and flipped that to best performance (pretty sure i had that there before- we know updates and stuff changes our settings sometimes 🤦♂️)
Then i found this obscure setting somewhere i cant seem to relocate where it was
