USB dongle (CDMA) not recognised in a particular USB port

I have a rather curious problem.

First the hardware description. I use Sony VAIO E series laptop running Win7 Home edition.

I was using a 3G USB dongle provided by MTS (a telecom company in India) for accessing internet. My laptop has 4 USB ports. I always used to insert this dongle in a particular port. A few days back I bought another dongle from Tata Docomo. I had to this because MTS had some legal issues and they stopped service in certain areas. This new dongle wouldn't work if I inserted it in the port where I used the old (MTS) dongle. It works fine in the other 3 ports. The error shown is 'No device found'. Other devices like USB drives work just fine.

Can't seem to find a solution? Any help would be much appreciated.
Hi Aninda

Thanks for your posting In Microsoft Community

If the red light is not visible in the purple i1Profiler dongle, the driver installation has probably failed for some reason.

To fix this issue, install the latest dongle driver again by following these steps:

- Close all applications
- Disconnect your dongle
- Download and just over-install the latest dongle driver from the link below
- Restart your computer
- Connect the dongle

Hey Shantanu,

Thanks for spending time with my problem.

I don't have a problem with all USB ports in my laptop. It is only a particular port which I used for MTS MBlaze all the time. I use a Photon Plus dongle now. It works in all ports except the one in which I used to insert the MTS dongle. I am guessing it should not be a driver issue. In any case I have completely uninstalled the MBlaze software. This I did before installing Tata Photon Plus stuff. The port in question works perfectly if I use flash drives, cameras even my new Lumia 620 (which BTW is a great phone for considering its very reasonable price!!).

1) uninstall old any  MTS  usb dongle softwares and its drivers completely

2) some of the folders with unwanted will be stored in   C drive

C\PROGRAM FILES
C\PROGRAM DATA     this folder is hidden
C\USER\YOUR USER NAME\ APP DATA

checks all the folders clearly

3) restart computer

Hi

I understand the isuse..

Issue is belongs to Particular USB PORT
Make sure that port is usb 2.0 or 3,0.,

Kindly try with updating chipset driver and usb 30. driver from your laptop vendors website like

http://support.lenovo.com
http://support.dell.com

If same issue Try updating driver from device manager,or call to vendor for hardware replacement

Dear Shantanu,

Thanks again.

It does not look like a hardware issue because other devices like mobiles, cameras and pen drives work fine.

Thanks anyway.

Hi

Did you tried with what latest MTS driver link i had provided to you
Have you contacted with MTS support Team

If other device is working fine

What lights are showing up on the dongle?

I'm not saying your dongle is toast yet, but it is looking that your initial diagnosis may be right. It's just necessary to do additional troubleshooting. Let's look at the good things you'be done: You've installed and re-installed using the latest version. You're trying to be thorough with your descriptions.

This might be happening if any of the security software protocol is interfering with the enabling of the dongle. Disable the security software protocol and check if the dongle is enabled.

To disable security software protocol

1.       Open Change adapter settings by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type network, click Network and Sharing Center, and then, in the left pane, click Change adapter settings.

2.       Right click on the device that you want to enable.

3.       Go to Properties.

4.       Disable any Security Software Protocol.

5.       Save the changes and check if you are able to enable the dongle.

You may also contact the MTS r to make sure if there are any patches required along with the drivers. Sometime there are patches available from manufacturer's like the pre-requisites that needs to be installed first for the USB dongles.

Please make sure you've installed the latest BIOS as well as the latest Intel chipset drivers for your machine
