USB Card Readers no longer recognized

I bought a 3d printer a few months ago and it uses Micro SD cards to print the files. I've had no problems using my USB card readers to transfer the files from my computer to the SD card up until a few weeks ago. Recently my PC has had problems recognizing the card reader so I had to move it from one USB port to another. Now my computer will not recognize any of my 3 card readers (even without a SD card in it). Under device manager it shows "unknown USB device". Windows 10 says the best driver is already installed and I've tried disabling/uninstalling/restarting this device multiple times. Also, device manage won't even recognize two of the other card readers now (not even giving the "unknown USB device" error for them). I can probably go buy another card reader but guessing I'll just have the same issue. For the one card reader it does at least recognize the Device ID is USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\6&35466de&0&7. Do I need to find a new driver for it? And if so where (nothing comes up when I search for it).

Thanks for looking.

Hello Jeff Clark3 and welcome to the Microsoft Community!

Based on your feedback, you are experiencing an issue where your computer can no longer read the card reader

You can try rolling back the driver

In Device Manager, locate your USB card reader device.

Right-click on the device and select “Roll Back Drivers”.

If the system prompts that the best driver has been installed

Try downloading and installing the latest driver manually.

Updating Chipset Drivers

Visit your computer's motherboard manufacturer's website to download and install the latest chipset drivers.

Finally, I'm concerned about the configuration file of your account.

Try creating a new account to test it out

1. Search for CMD, then run it in administrator mode and enter the following commands

net user USERNAME PASSWORD /add

2. After the command runs successfully, enter the following command

net localgroup administrators USERNAME /add

Note: USERNAME PASSWORD can be replaced by the account name and password you want, if you don't need the password, you can not fill in the PASSWORD.

We hope you find the above information helpful!
