USB 2.0 printer to USB 3.0 port
None is required, USB 3 ports are backwards compatible with USB 1/2 devices and leads. The extra terminals of USB 3 are in a second row which a USB 2 lead does not connect to.
USB C is different and yes Amazon do sell adapters for these.

Possibly because at the time of preparation of the documentation USB 3 was not defined and not considered.
One of the problems they had when developing the USB 3 port was maintaining compatibility with USB 2 devices and connections. As they succeeded backward compatibility was maintained.
It also means computer manufacturers only have to fit USB 3 as they will still work with USB 2 devices.

Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor available from the following link:

If the printer keeps insisting on a USB 2.0 port try giving it one by plugging a USB 2.0 hub (if you have one) into the USB 3.0 port and connect the printer to the USB 2.0 hub.
