Urban Assault game won't read disk

I have installed the old Urban Assault Microsoft game on my Vista PC.  When  trying to start play on a the first mission, I get a message saying "Please Insert the Urban Assault CD".  Clicking OK does nothing and clicking cancel goes back to main screen for choosing the level.  Any solutions?

Tom, this game predates Vista and is possibly not fully compatible with it. Take these steps to run it in compatibility mode, if running in compatibiliy is unsuccessful test installing in compatiblity, skip compatibility settings if you are able to run the game:

Compatibility Mode Methods

Turn on Compatibility Mode

  1. Right-click on the program's target .exe file (found in the folder it was installed in, usually in Program Files)
  2. Select Properties
  3. Select the Compatibility tab
  4. Check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and then select the version of Windows the program was designed for.
  5. Click OK
  6. Test the program for compatibility.

Test out changing some of the compatibility options:

  2. Select Properties
  3. Select the Compatibility tab
  4. Try checking some of the Setting options; particularly Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution.
  5. Click OK
  6. Test the program for compatibility.
