Updating to 1709 on a Windows tablet

I have a Toshiba Encore wt8 Windows tablet with 32 GB and a sd card of 32 gb. Windows update asked me to install a flash memory (in the micro USB port) to complete the installation of the update 1709. What i did. The problem is the micro USB port is the one to use for charging the battery and the update can't be completed before the battery runs off. At that point the system reinstall the 1703 version. Is there a way to tell Windows update to use the sd card rsather than the flash memory to complete the update?

Thanks!

Hi,

Since the battery runs out before the update was completed, you might need to download and create an installation media of Windows 10 to your SD card. This is because the option to directly choose the SD card when the update needs more space is not available.

In doing so, you will have an updated version of Windows 10 on it and use it to install the latest version of Windows 10. We recommend backing app your important files before installing it.

Kindly refer to this article for more information about it: How to Prepare Bootable Install Media for Windows 10 - DVD, USB or SD Card

Kindly update us with the outcome.

My wife have the same Toshiba Encore wt-8 i have and she was capable to install Windows Creator on it. Her tablet, however, is less loaded with apps.

Lot of informations here. I tried some of those. Problem not resolved yet but i'm progressing. The last thing i tried is to put the recovery partition of Windows on a Flash memory tro free space. I gained almost 5 Go. The problem is Windows created a new drive (F:) for this new free space and i'm not capable to join this space the C: drive (i tried almost all the possibilities of the disk magager). I didn't try to install the 1709 with this disk partition setting. Maybe it would work (next thing i will try).

For the moment, i decided to take a break. I've found the avenue to put my Wi-Fi on limited connection option (it's the case with 2 Mbit/sec speed). This way Windows update asks me if i want to update (i answer ''not for the moment'') rather than doing it whitout my consent.

I will do another ''blitz'' later. My wife have the same Toshiba Encore Wt-8 tablet (we love them) and the 1709 upgraded successfully on her's (less apps. than mine). Tough, there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks!

Claude
