Update Nokia N8 to Symbian Belle refresh

Hi,

Where can I update my Nokia N8,

Updating Symbian phones is a do-it-yourself job nowadays.

059C8T6 is a North American US variant, and I'm not sure it ever received the upgrade to Belle Refresh(?)
I only found the Belle (version 111.030.xxx) firmware files in an unofficial place.

The last Belle Delight custom (unofficial) firmware for the N8 dates back to 2014 and even that will not do what users of modern smartphones take for granted.

I suggest leave the phone as it is and use it for what it does, or gift it to somebody who appreciate its basic phone and camera qualities?

There are workarounds, unofficial collections of apps, updated root certificates etc. posted in this forum and elsewhere.
I don't want to link anywhere or try prepare a list with the exact steps, since a moderator pointed out the N8 is now unsupported in Microsoft Answers.

Search and you will find, if you are willing to spend some weeks on the project.

You could always search out Product Code 0599218 which is NAM DK Grey variant Belle Refresh, which I found relatively easily using search term "nokia and windows phone firmware downloader v4.6". You would find that contributor abi99 (2) has posted extensively upon such issues as setting up email and replacing expired certificates upon Symbian devices.

As mentioned, the firmware variant 059C8T6 did not get Nokia Belle Refresh but only Nokia Belle. However, I recommend to go for Nokia Belle Refresh because of its Qt 4.8. Therefore and as mentioned, I would go for the ‘nearest’ firmware variant which got Nokia Belle Refresh. In your case this is 0599218. One way to do so, is described there… When it comes to use this phone as a daily driver, as mentioned as well, I would update its certificates authorities, use the MailboxCreator to add E-mail accounts, and change the server for Assisted GPS… finally, do not forget to install a proxy based Web browser like Opera Mini via m.opera.com.

As always it would help if you could post the seven character alphanumeric product code of your N8, however could be a problem if specific language pack(s) have been installed in the past.

You might not like the answer provided by Abi99 (2) five posts up suggesting use of 0599218 NAM DK Grey variant Belle Refresh instead which can be found here http://cellomania.com/ffu/ but that is probably the only solution left to manually flash this firmware variant.
