Uninstalling Nahimic Companion that Windows Update installed

So a Windows 10 Update installed the Nahimic Companion app on my PC.

Not only do I not want it, but here's the issue:

- There's no uninstaller: It does not appear in Programs and Features

- It FORCES me to agree to their T&S (I got a notification at startup saying "By continuing to use Nahimic Companion you agree to your Terms & Services". I do NOT agree to have this app installed, it was installed by Microsoft.

- Even though I have disabled the Nahimic service, it's still present on my computer and this is now the 2nd time a Windows Update has forced this software to be installed on my computer.

I'm pretty sure that forcing such non-essential software that forces the user to agree to their T&S WITHOUT providing a way to uninstall it is illegal.

Can someone please help me get rid of Nahimic Companion once and for all?

Hi penchem

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

Yes, that Nahimic Companion is a real nuisance and hard to remove, do you have an MSI PC?

1
Most people use the free version of Revo Uninstaller to remove that from their PC:

https://www.revouninstaller.com/products/revo-u...

2
Click your Start Button, then just type services and press Enter

Scroll down to find the Nahimic service, then double click that service, set its Startup type to Disabled and save that setting

That will stop Nahimic form re-installing

If you cannot find Nahimic in services:

Click the link below to download a small free utility that does not require installation

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/d...

When the file downloads, unzip it.

Depending on your system, run Autoruns or Autoruns64 as Administrator

Type Nahimic in the search box in Autoruns

Right click any resulting entries and select delete

Because of your situation, I just installed a new Realtek driver on my system. At first, nothing else was added but Win 10 updates showed an A-Volute update which did, after a reboot, install DTS Sound Unbound, Sonic Studio 3 and Sonic Radar 3. All of these are listed on the Start Menu, Apps listing with uninstall options available.

I normally uninstall the Sonic Radar 3 but keep the others.

Ok, while those programs appear fine in the uninstall list, Nahimic Companion does NOT (neither the Windows Settings apps menu, nor the Control Panel's Programs and Features).

Thanks for the info,, I will have a look at Revo and try to remove Nahimic with it. I'll have a look at the startup util too, I've disabled the service, but it's still present on my system and I'm not 100% sure if it isn't still running something at startup

Have you checked the Task Manger to see if it is running?

As Dave mentioned, there seem to be quite a few references to it on the Internet and most are related to MSI. Maybe that OEM installs some type of utility that needs it for some specific purpose. If there is such a utility, you may have to deal with it.. The only thing I have seen in Windows update is the A-Volute update, which installed the Sonic Software. But I do show 5 Nahimic services running.

I suppose it could be something left over from a previous install so maybe you could uninstall the sound drivers and start over, if Dave's suggestion doesn't fix it or if it comes back.
