Uniblue registry booster is claiming to be recommended by Microsoft. Is this true?

Uniblue Registry Booster has a logo on it's various sites that is Microsoft Gold Certified Partner. Elsewhere I read that Uniblue is snake oil and damaging to the computer. Which is true? You may view this at http://www.liutilities.com/products/campaigns/affiliate/cb/offer/sevenforums/rb/. I know that when I had Uniblue fix the registry errors I had to uninstall and reinstall my hp support assistant on my hp notebook. Things were really messed up.

No this isnt true, alot of sites claim to be microsoft certified, but that is just a lure.truth is nothing will clean your registry properly..i mean how would a program know what settings and programs your using, and customisations you like..truth is they cant...the best way if youare to try to clean it is to manually...although i dont advise it...i go under run/regedit to edit mine and just get rid of junk uninstalled preograms left behind and obsolete software entries, but again i dont advise it

Just because Uniblue is registered as a provider of leading software utilities products does not mean that its "registry booster" is useful or endorsed by Microsoft.

The registry does not need "boosting" and I have never ever seen any reproducible benchmark test confirming that registry boosters provide any benefit. However, most if not all of them do a great job at scaring the living daylight out of people by reporting large numbers of registry "errors" (which may exist but are totally irrelevant for the performance of Windows, same as freckles in a person's face say nothing about that person's health).

On the other hand I have seen quite a few posts from people whose machines suffered serious damage following the installation of such a tool.

Use it at your own peril. And if you want some facts, get out your stop watch and measure the startup time before and after the installation of the booster.

Don't use anything from the Uniblue product line unless you want to get up close and personal with re-installing back to factory..

And please note that the same applies to ANY company/website/product that promises your computer will be super fast and all fixed if you download and run their junk..

It only took 7 minutes to appear. Maybe you should run your software on your server..

LOL!.

Perhaps they are afraid it will trash their system and they will have to reinstall everything.

We see way too many problems both here and the genuine advantage forums with these type of products uninstalling critical system files causing not genuine notices. (as well as other problems).  Their support answer for these issues is to reinstall windows. That answer would not satisfy me. (and I have good backups and system images)
