Hi Julie,

We need to gather more information for us to better assist you on your concern about, playing CDs or DVDs on your computer. Please provide the answers to the questions below:

  • When did the issue start?
  • Were there any changes made on your computer before encountering the issue?
  • What is the exact model of your computer? You can find out the model of your computer by following these instructions:
    1. Right-click the Windows logo (Start button).
    2. Click Run.
    3. In the Run textbox, type msinfo32.
    4. On the left pane of the System Information window, look for System model to see the exact model of your device.
  • When you access This PC under File Explorer, can you see the icon of your CD or DVD that you've inserted? If so, what is happening when you access it?

There may be an issue with the settings of the CD/DVD player of your laptop that is why you're having an issue playing your discs. I'm having the same issue since upgrading to windows 10, CD/DVD is not showing up anywhere, its spinning when a disc is put in the drive but that's it not reading it or playing it.

I have a Acer  Aspire V3-772G

No support from Acer directs to here for support and drivers

Hi,

There are several causes that we can check to identify the proper solution to your concern. In some cases, the CD/DVD may not work properly due to an outdated DVD/CD-ROM driver or if the hardware is faulty. We would like to recommend an article where you can follow different methods on how to isolate and troubleshoot the issue. To get started, check this support page article: Your CD or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows or other programs.

At the same time, we'd like to ask for additional details so we can also investigate from our end. Please answer the following:

  • What is the current build and version of your Windows 10 device? To check, type winver in the search bar and press Enter.
  • When you mentioned that the issue started after the upgrade, is it an upgrade from an old Windows version to Windows 10 or an upgrade to a newer build of Windows 10 (i.e 1703 to 17019)?

We hope to hear from you soon.
