Unable to hide unwanted update KB2670838

To deal with repeated blue screens, I uninstalled KB2670838.  That solved the problem.

I wanted to "hide" that updated so it wouldn't be installed again, but when I went to
Windows Update and clicked the Check for updates link, KB2670838 was not in the
list so I could not mark it as hidden.  I tried the Restore hidden updates link to see whether
uninstalling that update had automatically made it hidden, but it had not.

Now, this morning, KB2670838 was again automatically reinstalled.  I uninstalled it
again and as before, it does not appear in the list of available updates so I'm not able to
hide it.

How can I hide this unwanted and problematic update?!

I've attached images of Windows Update and the dialog that I see after clicking on the
Check for updates link and then clicking to display the optional updates...as you'll see, KB2670838 is not in the list.

The first thing you need to do is take control of Windows Update.

Open Windows Update and click the Change Settings on the left side menu.

Use the drop down menu and select the Check for updates but let me decide whether to download and install them option.

The next time windows updates are available you will see a notification on the desktop.

Take a look at the available updates, when you see the same update again, right click the update and select the Hide option.
