Unable to enable McAfee firewall with Windows firewall enabled on Windows 7 computer.

Original title: cant switch between mcafee firewall and windows firewall.

When I turn off mcafee firewall and go to the windows firewall control panel page it says the settings are being managed by mcafee. is there any way i can make windows think the settings are not managed by mcafee so i can use windows firewall?

Hi Golaniy,

Often two firewalls on the same computer might create conflict. As both are try to do the same job, the conflict may cause an otherwise good Internet connection to drop or computer to crash.

Method 1:

I would suggest you to boot your computer in safe mode and try enabling the Windows firewall because in safe mode all third party firewalls will not be enabled or work.

Method 2:

If you are not able to turn on Windows firewall then, I would suggest you to uninstall McAfee and try installing it again and check if the issue gets fixed.

To Disable the McAfee Firewall

a.Uninstall McAfee
b.Reinstall McAfee, selecting Custom Installation.
c.Unselect McAfee Firewall.
d.Finish the rest of the McAfee installation as you did before.
