Unable to disable Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser in Task Scheduler

Hi,

I disabled Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser in Task Scheduler but the task keeps being re-enabled.

I then looked at the trigger section and that was not disabled.

So I looked at the One time trigger properties.

I then clicked on the Triggers tab.

Then I clicked on Edit button and disabled the One time trigger.

After clicking the OK button I got a dialog window saying:

Task Scheduler service is not available. Task Scheduler will attempt to reconnect to it.

The end result is that the trigger remains enabled.

I get this error on my Windows 10 desktop and laptop.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi WENZU5

My name is Sarah Kong and I am an independent adviser that is here to try and help you with your issue.

That service is what asses a previous version of Windows to see if it is able to upgrade to Windows 10.
I am assuming you upgraded this machine at one point?
Try running a repair upgrade to fix this.

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for your input.

I upgraded Windows 10 Pro to 1809.

I'm not sure I understand your answer.

What has upgrading to do with the Compatibility Appraiser?

Thanks

it's not an upgrade in that way.
It is a repair... so it takes your current windows image and repairs it/
