Unable to Boot Windows 7

Okay, so my Windows 7 will not boot up. I want to reinstall/fix my mbr so the windows bootloader will load up windows. I have tried the windows 7 dvd method with the start up repair, and through the command prompt with the bootsec commands. All of the bootsec commands such as "booitsec /fixmbr" tell me that a device attached to the system is not functioning properly. Also diskpart recognizes my hard drive, but finds no partitions on it, which is not true, as I can boot ubuntu and access all my partitions including the windows one. It seems like there is a corruption somewhere on the hard drive, but im fairly confident that this is not the case. Any ideas?

Have you tried bootrec /fixboot? Or the other commands?

This KB tells how to use /FixMbr and /FixBoot and other options

Support for Windows Vista without any service packs installed ended on April 13, 2010. To continue

Also check your BIOS settings required for the drive.

Hope this helps.

No, ive already tried all of those standard options. As I said before "bootrec /fixboot" and "bootrec /fixmbr" cannot execute becuase an error is returned that a device attached to the system is not functioning.

BIOS settings are fine.

Thanks!

Hi,

Have you ran partition tests on the drive from ubuntu? You may need to reformat the partition
and re-install Windows 7.

Disk partitioning
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disk_partitioning

Possibly it can be repaired :

From the Command Prompt of the Recovery Console (if you have one) or from a Vista/Windows
7 disk - if you do not have a Vista/Windows 7 disk you can borrow a friend's (it needs to be same
32 or 64 bit and they are not copy protected) or make one. Also your System maker will sell the
physical disks cheap since you already own Windows.

chkdsk /f /r

chkdsk /f /r returns:

The file system is NTFS.\

Cannot lock current volume.

Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write protected.

I doubt this will work, I'm sorry if I didnt make this clear in the past, but windows doesnt see any of my partitions. If i run diskpart and select my hard drive and then execute "list partitions", there are no partitions. C: wont mean anything to the system. I assume this is close to the root of the problem, why isint windows recognizing my partitions, while I am able to access, read, write on them from ubuntu. Never the less I'll see what happens.

Thanks
