Unable to boot in Windows XP error" invalid boot.ini file".

Original Title: WHAT IS THIS WINDOWS\IME\CHSIME\AXEL.DAV

I am having a problem on my desktop HP XP  computer.  I cannot get it to boot,  I have finally resorted to Recovery which   is stuck at about 23% and has been going for a little more than an hour.  The first file it coould not open was windows\ime\chsime\AXEL.DAV  and then a whole slew of them including CONFIG.SYS, IO.SYS, MS-DOS.SYS     boot.ini.  Should I just junk it?  The original message  was invalid boot.ini file.

Answer

Hi,

1.       Have you tried booting in safe mode?

2.       Are you referring to recovery console or are you trying to restore the computer to factory settings?

Follow method 1 if you have not tried booting in safe mode.

 Method 1:
