Turn off pinch-zoom (Nextbook)

I bought a NextBook, came installed with Windows 8.1.

The problem I have is the pinch-zoom. Always zooms in when I'm trying to do a two-finger scroll, quite frustrating!

I'd like to turn off the feature. Problem is, there' no "Synaptics" or "Device Settings" in Control Panel --> Mouse Settings.

I've tried updating the mouse driver, but to no avail.

There must be a way...

Thanks,

Jason

Hi,

Thanks for posting your query to Microsoft forum.

You can change the settings.

If you want to change the default “Pen and Touch” settings of your computer, then you may refer to the section “How do I change my pen and touch actions?” given in the article: “Touch and pen settings: FAQ” from this link:

a)       Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.

b)       Select “Control Panel” from that list.

c)       Click on the option “Hardware and Sounds” and then click on “Pen and Touch

d)       Go to the “Touch” tab and uncheck the option “Use your finger as an input device

e)       Click on “Apply” and then “Ok”.

Do you want to use mouse instead?

Most laptops have an external switch or button, which when turned on, disable the mouse pad. You can try if this works.

You can also enable the mouse pad from Control Panel.

Follow the steps below to do so:

a.     Press Windows key + X and select Control Panel.

b.     Select Mouse Properties.

c.      Right-click on the mouse pad to enable it.

Hope this information is helpful. If the issue still persists, please post back for further assistance, we'll be glad to assist you.

Thanks & Regards,

Isha Soni

Hi,

You can turn it off in the Accessibility menu. There's a screenshot of it here: http://support.nextbookusa.com/support/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/78/30/accessibility

Sadly, under "Pen and Touch" there is no option to uncheck for "Use your finger as an input device". Even if I did, I still want to use the two-finger scroll, and the double-tap to select text & hold/move windows & files.

I can't always use a mouse (airports, coffee shops, etc). This is why I want to disable the feature -- it keeps zooming in when all I want to do is scroll. I'm happy with using CTRL +/- for zoom when I need to.

As stated, I want to use my trackpad. I just don't want the feature for pinch-zoom enabled. For whatever reason, Nextbook laptops don't have the necessary tab on the Mouse Settings to disable it.

As a programmer, I feel this should be a simple fix. Can you understand my English?

Thanks,

Jason

Hi,

Apologies, I didn't realize there were two operating systems available.

But there's an option on their site to submit a support ticket which you could try: http://support.nextbookusa.com/support/index.php?/Tickets/Submit/RenderForm/8

There's really not an option to create a ticket -- The CAPTCHA thing on their website doesn't work at all.

Last time I buy anything from those guys...
