Turn off Parental Controls icon in System Tray of basic accounts

I've set up Parental Controls on the basic user accounts on my PC, but when I log into those accounts to verify how they're working before I let the kids at them, I see the Parental Controls icon in the system tray. I can't seem to find any way to turn that icon off in the kid's accounts.

Hi Rick_Le_Feuvre,

Welcome to The windows Vista answers forums.

The parental control icon in the notification area is a built in feature showing that parental control is being used in that particular account. You can however remove it by right clicking on it and then click on exit. Please follow the link below for more information.

You can also try these steps below:

1.Right-click on the Taskbar and click on Properties.

2.Turn to Notification Area tag, and cancel the selection which you want to hide in System icons. Then click Customize in Icons.

3.Click on the icon you want to hide and select Hide in the drop down box.

4.Then click OK to save changes and exit.

I hope this information is helpful.

Please let us know if you require further help.
