Touchpad cursor disappears and is unresponsive. (Lenovo Yoga 530 14ARR, Windows 10)

I have the same frustrating issue with Lenovo Yoga 530 14ARR:

My bios version is: 8MCN50WW

Interesting that Lenovo lists 8MCN45WW

Hi nagyandor
I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. I am here to work with you on this problem.

Take actions related to touchpad driver
Windows Key+X (Or right click on Start) > Click Device Manager > View tab > Show hidden devices > Expand Human Interface devices > Right click on the touchpad listed there >

A. Roll back the driver (You will have to repeat the steps for all entries listed including Synaptics)
Click Properties > Under Drive tab, if Rollback Driver is enabled click it

B. Update driver from manufacturer's website (You will have to repeat the steps for all entries listed including Synaptics)
Go to the website of the computer's manufacturer > See if some driver is released for your model and OS > If yes, download that > In previous option, you click Update Driver Software, in place of this, click Uninstall > Install the downloaded driver > Restart your computer

Hi Vijay,

I thank you so much for your help, because this issue is so frustrating, and I do not know how to prove to Lenovo that this is software or hardware issue.

Yesterday I reinstalled the windows, and automatically updated with windows update.

And I managed to downgrade the mentioned bios, because presently Lenovo publishes the older one 8MCN45WW version, than the 8MCN50WW installed in January. (it is interesting why Lenovo do this version changes, and why not solves downgrading back, if there is something wrong)

The issue is still present. If my computer is in sleep for about half hour or more, my touchpad does not show the pointer, only touchpad click is working. After some sleep and wakeup cycle (minimum 1 but sometimes more cycle is needed) my pointer is coming back.

I have checked which devices has rollback option. Only active pen has, every others not.

If I am checking with Lenovo Software Automatic Update, there is nothing to refresh (only wlan driver and amd video card), so every other drivers are up-to-date with Microsoft update.

In the devices I didn't see any driver named Synaptics)

I shared the today morning system event logs when the issue was there, and the list of drivers:

I am appreciate your effort!

Regards,

Andor

Hi,

Yes, I updated my Windows 10 (1809, build 17763.379) from the builtin windows update, and with lenovo system update.

Lenovo system update only refreshed my amd vga driver, amd vga ui drvier and wlan driver for realtek.

Every others were up-to-date from the windows update.

Now I checked again on the support.lenovo.com automatic driver update and said: "no drivers are required to update for your machine"

So I think everything are the latest.

Upon the touchpad problem, I have another which comes not to frequent, but it is so disturbing: four key "8", "i", "k", "," (in that vertical row) are not working so same as the touchpad, because some resuspending may improve them.

I am very disappointed with this laptop model, so much frustrating problem is unacceptable for a 800 usd brand new product.

I do not know how to prove that is a hardware or windows or lenovo software bug. And because the problem is not permanent, sometimes it comes, it is so hard to prove that.

Every help is welcome.

Best regards,

Andor

Hi Andor,

Thank you for your reply.

As you have mentioned the issue not occurring regularly, it’s required to isolate the issue and need to check if there are any third party programs are causing the issue. To do so, start your device in clean boot.

Note: A ‘clean boot’ starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is causing the issue.

Your computer may temporarily lose some functionality while in a clean boot environment, however, that functionality will return when you reset the computer to start normally after you have finished your troubleshooting.

You may refer the article on how to perform a clean boot in Windows.

Refer the section How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot, if your touchpad is working fine in clean boot.

Also refer the section Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting.

Hope it helps.

Hi,

If I reinstalled the Win10 from scratch and updating everthing with windows update, this issue occurs.

I think there is no any extra on this computer after installing, so this notebook must work without any issue.

I have no more idea to find the source of this problem, how to debug it.

Thanks for any suggestion!

Regards,

Andor
