There isn’t an option for WiFi connection in the network settings or on the taskbar, how can I connect my pc without the Ethernet cable?

Hi, I have recently build a new gaming pc with a ASUS B650 plus WiFi motherboard and I can’t find an option for the WiFi in the network settings. I’ve downloaded all the drivers off of ASUS site and downloaded different ones from other sites and still nothing has changed. I have upgraded windows 10 to 11 hoping that it would help and I have reset the pc and also reinstalled windows. I have also added some codes in to Windows+R and enabled WiFi through the network sharing settings. Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Hi, Josh Nutbeam

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that you are experiencing an issue with no WiFi option in your system settings.

From your description, it seems that you have already tried to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and reinstalled the system, so this can rule out a Windows system failure.

The issue seems to be related to your Bios settings and drivers, so we recommend that you follow the ASUS motherboard manufacturer's instructions to enter the Bios and check if the motherboard WiFi feature is enabled.

After confirming that the WiFi feature is enabled in the Bios, please visit the ASUS website, download the B650 plus WiFi driver, install it and restart your computer.

If the problem still exists after you check the Bios settings as well as the WiFi driver, you can also try updating the Bios version.

And try to troubleshoot static electricity: turn off the computer, unplug all external devices, unplug the power cord, press the on button 10-15 times in a row, followed by connecting the power cord and other external devices, and turn on the computer to check if WiFi is working.

If the problem still exists, this can be considered a motherboard WiFi module hardware problem, we recommend that you contact ASUS official to provide you with motherboard hardware after-sales inspection service.
